Searching for the meaning of “WORTH IT”, I’ve found this:
The origin of the expression is
worthwhile “From the final judgment of Osiris” described in the Book of the
Dead. In fact, the Book of the Departure of the Soul to the Light. Preparatory
procedures and, finally, judgment occurs by placing the physical heart of the
soul on one side of the scale, which would have been preserved by
mummification, and on the other a feather representing his earthly conscience.
Then the soul would be free if the
consciousness had condensed and intensified knowledge and experiences to the
point of counterbalancing the weight of the heart.
We need to make earthly experiences
worthwhile.
In our language it means: punishment imposed
by law on any crime or misdemeanor. Sanction, great psychological suffering,
heartbreak, pity, sadness. It can also mean, in the old way, thorn.
We realize that, by
saying that if something is going to be "worthwhile" we are already
predicting that the action will generate suffering.
For example:
- will it be worth going to the movie? (will you sacrifice yourself for
this?)
- Was it worth it? (was it worth the sacrifice, the pain?)
I've been researching
phrases and images to put here and they all say "was it worth it? So, for
everything we have to do, it has to say that it was worth suffering? It would
be the same meaning.
Yes, for some things we
suffer to achieve, but does it have to be for everything?
Everytime you use this expression "it was worth it", think carefully because you will already be putting in front of you that whatever you are going to do, a prediction that there will be an effort, a suffering, some pain.
Whenever you use the
expression "it will be worth it", replace it with "it will be
worth the joy, it will be great, it is worth trying" or any other word
that gives a perspective that everything will go in a positive way.
If you are on a project
and someone asks if it is going to be worth it, you can answer that there will
be no penalty and yes, overcoming any problem that may arise, if it appears.
Convince yourself that everything conspires in your favor and therefore
nothing can go wrong. If something doesn't agree, stop and rethink new
strategies or a change in direction but stop thinking if this or that
It's
worth it because you're already wondering if this or that will be worth
sacrifice.
It’s good to keep an eye on what is said
because we will avoid many problems just with the change of vocabulary.
Hugs!
Regina
